Laura Ell, MA has 20 years experience in the tourism and wellness industry. She holds a Masters Degree from Royal Roads University where she completed her thesis research on Codes of Conduct for Indigenous-Inspired Spa Therapies which was nominated for the Governor General of Canada’s Academic Award!

Laura is a sustainable wellness tourism specialist with a successful track record over two decades advising governments, NGOs, and other wellness enterprises in becoming more competitive.

Her expertise includes masterplanning, public-private partnerships, marketing, public relations, capacity building, and resiliency design for COVID-19. She regularly conducts missions via such agencies as the World Wildlife Fund, United Nations World Tourism Organization, or for funders including United States Agency for International Development, World Bank, and the European Union.

Laura has a knack for helping tourism destination and operations including resorts and spas to become more successful resulting in more heads in beds (hotel or spa massage tables) and butts on plane seats to realize measurable, tangible success which improves the local economy.

Over her career Laura has helped over 300 tourism enterprises in over 45 destinations prosper, becoming more sustainable and thus resilient. Laura has co-designed clusters in the Americas, Africa, Europe and Asia including a wellness and medical tourism concept in North China.

Many of Laura’s clients earn awards for service quality, sustainability and innovations as a result of implementing her recommendations. They realize triple-bottom line benefits while minimizing economic leakage out of the region.
